Grain Pipe Organ reimagines the sound a single-pitch produces through digital pressurized air. Although the timbre and pitch are purely digital, the listener will experience a sort of hypnosis, as the single-pitch is prolonged and amplified throughout.
At first, the listener will become entranced by the continuity of the single note – unchanging, dependable, and extensive – before it is noticed, the listener is wholly focused on a solitary point in time.
The singular pitch drives the imagination to wander… is the pitch rising? Lowering? Vibrating? Only the listener can speculate on these self-created, profound observations.
As time goes on, a reminder of what it means to ‘focus’ crawls into view – unrepentant, disciplined, and perpetual – a fleeting moment that flashes before busy lives.
A single-pitch, born from a singular moment, is a guide to reflective detachment. Who will follow?
